BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues
ANALYSIS: Scooter Gennett now has a .316 AVG, .349 OBP, and .160 ISO in 450 at-bats in the majors between 2013-2014 making him a viable option for those in deep leagues or NL-Only. He offers both speed and pop having reached 9 HRS in almost every minor league season he played as well as double digits in steals most seasons. The numbers to me that really stand out are the fact that his BB % percentage is above career norms, and his K-rate is decently below his career norms. It suggests a player that is getting more comfortable at the Major League level with improved plate discipline. When he does play, he is often batting leading off for the NL Central first place Brewers which should lead to a good amount of run scoring opportunities. The only knock on Gennett is that he doesn't hit lefties well and has been riding the pine vs. them frequently. Still, now is the time to get him because Gennett is coming off one of his best games to date in which he went 2-5, scored 2 runs, hit a grand slam, and totaled 5 RBIs (note: he followed that up with a pinch hit 2-run HR on Thursday night). With Kolten Wong on the shelf, those who missed out on the likes of Josh Harrison will definitely want to pick up Scooter Gennett as long as he remains hot. If that sounds like you, you better scoot to pick him up!
