BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 43% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Philadelphia Phillies relief pitcher Seranthony Dominguez appears locked into the closer's role in Philadelphia with Hector Neris optioned to the minor leagues. While this is good news for fantasy owners, a 1.54 ERA in 23 1/3 innings shows that he should have been the closer for the Phillies even with Neris on the squad.
Dominguez has 31 strikeouts this season and has only allowed three walks this season, posting an impressive 0.56 WHIP. He has a 1-1 record and four saves this season already, likely to get more saves for a Phillies' team that is 41-33 and just 1 1/2 games behind the 1st-place Braves. Philadelphia has only converted 66.7% of their saves this season and Dominguez will likely improve on that rate.
While Edubray Ramos may also see save opportunities, Dominguez is going to be the primary closer in Philadelphia with Neris out of the way. Dominguez's statistics should have seen his ownership rise over the 50% threshold even before he was the closer, but he should be owned in most leagues since being named closer.
