BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
ROSTERED IN: 20% of leagues
ANALYSIS: Though he's only eligible as a reliever at the moment, Shane McClanahan is scheduled to start two games this week, including Tuesday night against the Angels. The lefthander celebrated his 24th birthday a day late with an attention-grabbing major league debut last Thursday. Though he allowed two runs in his four innings of work, he struck out five batters without issuing a walk and kept the ball on the ground at a 50% clip.
McClanahan's usage and workload are a bit murky as is tradition in Tampa, but it's clear that he has sensational stuff. He averaged 97 on the fastball in his debut, touching 100 at points with arm-side run, and featured a wipeout slider as well. He'll need to refine his changeup to take the next step, but with an innings limit likely, the Rays may be content to let him dominate in three or four inning stints - and he already has the skills to do it.
