Span (Back) Sits Out Already Thursday After Two Games Back

Denard Span will sit out Thursday’s game for the Washington Nationals against the San Diego Padres because of back soreness, according to CSNMA.

The Nationals centerfielder will miss a game after only two games since his return from a back injury that had him sidelined since July 7. Washington will manage Span throughout the final stretch of the season as he might not be playingt at 100 percent right now.

In his first game back, Span went 0-for-4 and then 2-for-5 on Wednesday. Michael Taylor will start in his place in centerfield.

Span has a .308 BA with 5 HR, 22 RBI and 11 SB over 61 games this season. Taylor has done a solid job in his place. In his last 14 at-bats, Taylor has three homers with five RBI. On the season, he has a .242 BA with 13 HR, 55 RBI and 15 SB. He has also played a solid centerfield during Span’s absence.
