Stephen Piscotty Goes 1-For-4 In MLB Debut

Stephen Piscotty went 1-for-4 with a run scored during his MLB debut on Tuesday as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Chicago White Sox.

Piscotty, 24, delivered his lone hit in the fourth inning before being driven in by a grand slam from Matt Holiday. He batted ninth and started in left field. The rookie admitted he was nervous before the game.

"I've really tried to push it out of my mind as best I can," Piscotty told ESPN.com before the game, "but now it's finally here, so I'm excited and ready for it."

Mark Reynolds started at first base rather than Piscotty. Reynolds hit a solo homerun in the fifth inning.

Piscotty could see some action at first base while Matt Adams remains out of the Cardinals’ lineup. He was batting .272 with 11 home runs and 41 RBI in his 87 games at Memphis. He has raised his season average from .243 since June 1 by batting .308 (44 for 143) over the past six weeks.
