Steven Matz's scheduled start for Wednesday has been moved to Thursday because of stiffness on his right side.
The Mets are giving the starting pitcher another day’s rest to make sure everything is OK. Logan Verrett will move up one day and start on Wednesday in place of Matz. The left-hander will now pitch against the Philadelphia Phillies for what could be his last start of the entire 2015 season.

Matz slept on his side funny, which means the issue might not be anything important. Regardless, the Mets aren't taking any chances with their prized youngster. The rookie has pitched in six games this season and owns a 2.27 ERA with a 4-0 record and 34 strikeouts over 35 2/3 innings pitched.
There’s still no official ruling on whether Matz will start during the postseason, but Mike Puma of NY Post has reported that Matz is likely to join Jacob deGrom, Noah Syndergaard, and Matt Harvey in the rotation.
Verrett has done great in spot-start roles with the exception of his last start. The right-hander allowed four runs over five innings pitched and suffered the loss.
