ANALYSIS: Tajae Sharpe has been around for four years now since being drafted all the way back in 2016 by the Titans. Truth be told, he’s never been a fantasy option and his season-averages are of 6.6, 4.5, and 4.5 points per game (he missed the 2017 season). But although A.J. Brown, Corey Davis, and Adam Humphries will keep their targets high going forward, Sharpe could see his names rise now that Ryan Tannehill has taken on the QB1 role.
Sharpe’s games this season have not featured more than three targets in his boxscore at any time. Even with that, though, he’s been able to log more than six yards per target in every game he’s caught at least a pass. He’s on a back-to-back 10-plus points streak in which he has scored a touchdown in each of his last two games, racking up 37 combined yards on just five receptions out of six targets.
Being able to produce even playing behind three other receivers goes in Sharpe’s favor and could help him grow his role in this offense, even more if Tannehill builds a rapport with him if the QB keeps starting weekly. Sharpe is definitely a long-shot to win you your fantasy matchups weekly and a risky play even at the flex spot, but if you happen to play in a deeper league with large roster and more than average WR/Flex spots to fill each weekend then he could be a good addition at least for next week as the Titans face Carolina (seventh-worst defense against WR in points per game allowed to the position).
