Tanaka (Hamstring) Returns Wednesday

Here's some much needed positive news for Yankees fans. Masahiro Tanaka will start for the New York Yankees on Wednesday against the Boston Red Sox.

The right-hander was skipped for his last start due to a Grade 1 hamstring strain. Tanaka was able to pitch through a couple of bullpen sessions over the weekend without an issue. Wednesday be a tune-up and the final start of the regular season for the 26-year-old pitcher.

Tanaka has pitched great of late, which is a good sign for a Yankees team that is going to have to throw out one of their starters in what will likely be the Wild Card game unless they can find a way to pass the Toronto Blue Jays in the final week. Over his last three starts, Tanaka allowed three runs over 21 innings. The current rotation schedule will allow the Yankees to use Tanaka in the Wild Card game.

The second-year MLB star owns a 3.38 ERA, 0.99 WHIP, and 136/26 K/BB ratio in 149 innings this season for the Yanks.
