The New York Yankees received bad news as their ace pitcher, Masahiro Tanaka, has been placed on the DL with a small strain in his right forearm and tendinitis in his right wrist.
YES Network analyst Jack Curry reported on Twitter that Tanaka has been placed on the 15-day DL. He also reported that Yankees general manager, Brian Cashman, told reporters that he expects the right-hander to miss at least a month.
Tanaka's MRI showed a small forearm strain so he will be placed on the 15-day DL.

The strain is reportedly closer to his wrist than his elbow, which somewhat diminishes concerns to Yankee fans that this could lead to Tommy John surgery. The 26-year-old will be shut down completely for the next 7-10 days.
Tanaka is coming off a start where he held the high-powered Detroit Tigers offense to one run in over six innings pitched. He had a 3.22 ERA in four starts this season. Last year, he dazzled MLB with his electric stuff, sporting a 2.77 ERA. He did miss a big chunk of the season with pain his pitching elbow.
Chase Whitley made an excellent spot start Tuesday night, holding the Rays to just two runs. This could lead to a full-time role until Tanaka returns.
