Masahiro Tanaka will rejoin the New York Yankees rotation next week, according to the Daily News.
Yankees manager Joe Girardi made the announcement on Thursday that ace of the staff will be back to start either Tuesday or Wednesday, according to the report. Tanaka has been dealing with forearm and wrist pain that has had him sidelined since late April.
The start will come against the Seattle Mariners. Girardi also said that Tanaka will be limited to around 80 pitches for his first start.
The right-hander was starting to look like the same man who came over from Japan last season and dazzled all his opponents. In his last two starts, Tanaka allowed one run total in 13-plus innings to go along with 14 Ks.
He made a rehab start for Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Wednesday, striking out four batters and allowing three runs over three innings on 62 pitches.
