BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 32% of Yahoo! leagues
ANALYSIS: What was supposed to be a stop-gap appearances until Jean Segura heals has turned into a successful audition for playing time. Taylor Motter hit a grand slam on Sunday, giving him five home runs and 12 runs batted in over 51 at-bats. Motter hit as many as 22 HR in the minors two years ago, so the power isn't a surprise. You may not know that he compiled many more steals (127) than homers (56) over his minor-league career. Motter won't hit for much average, so his current .255 clip is probably about right, but that power/speed potential should catch your eye, especially in keeper leagues.
The rub is that Jean Segura was activated from the disabled list today and will slide back into his starting shortstop position. Motter has certainly earned more playing time, but will have to steal a game or two around the diamond at various positions. If Daniel Vogelbach proves unready for the majors, it's not inconceivable that Motter could slide over to first base if needed. Feel free to add him in mixed leagues until we see clear evidence that his playing time is being reduced enough to impact his value.
