BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 6% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: With New Orleans coming back from its bye week, not a lot has changed around Ted Ginn Jr. and his situation in the Saints attack. Drew Brees was already back for their Week 8 game against Arizona and although Ginn wasn’t a cookie-monster eating liability, he had his chances and did something with them. Ginn caught two of his three targets in Week 8 and racked up 42 yards in those two actions. It is the first time since Week 5 that Ginn is targeted fewer than five times, having logged six and five targets in the past two games.
Perhaps not a league winner, Ginn should still be considered a weekly producer for owners in deeper leagues. He’s not dropped from the five-point mark since Week 4 and all of his games have ended in between five and 12 fantasy points (that one in Week 5: two receptions for 35 yards and a TD). Although he was a little bit under-used on Brees’ comeback game I’d say he’s probably bound to see some positive regression in that department and log more targets from now on.
The Saints schedule can’t be better for wide receivers for the next four weeks: they face Atlanta (fourth-worst in points allowed to opposing WRs), Tampa Bay (worst), Carolina (ninth-worst), and Atlanta again. There are no wideouts with a more favorable pre-fantasy-playoffs run of games ahead, and Ginn is an established veteran New Orleans will rely on. Ginn could indeed turn into the guy that clinches you the playoffs if he puts on a good streak of performances there. With the bye still in owners’ minds, don’t forget about Ginn and pick him up faster than your fellow rivals.
