No running back has been more impressive that Atlanta Falcons' Devonta Freeman during the past couple of weeks. With rookie Tevin Coleman out with a rib injury, Freeman has taken advantage of his playing time and dominated opposing defenses. But when both backs were healthy in Week 1, it was Coleman who seemed to be the team's starting running back.
Coleman is expected to return to the football field this Sunday against the Washington Redskins, which should raise some concerns for Freeman owners. Although Freeman's amazing performances during the past two weeks should have done enough to earn him the starting job he lost to Coleman in the preseason, the rookie will still steal some of his touches away.
If you own Freeman in your fantasy football leagues, you'd be a fool not to start him. But don't expect him to put up the type of numbers he has in the past two weeks. The team was high on Coleman coming into the season. If Freeman has a couple of bad plays, the team won't hesitate to pull him in favor of the rookie.
