ANALYSIS: I know a lot of people still want no part of Jay Cutler after the letdowns of seasons past, but it's time to recognize. Cutler has been playing very well this season despite the slew of injuries that have hit his offense. On Sunday, Cutler threw for 345 yards and two touchdowns against the Chargers. Yes Verrett got hurt, and yes he got a pick-six while he was in the game. However that was more of Alshon Jeffery's fault than Cutler's. Looking at the whole body of work though, Cutler is making much smarter throws and is not forcing the issue.
While the next two matchups for Cutler and the Bears will be tough (@STL and DEN), the remainder of the schedule is very inviting. So for anyone who just lost Andrew Luck, Cutler is the perfect replacement. After Week 11, the Bears play Green Bay, San Francisco, Washington, Minnesota, and Detroit. A matchup against the Lions during Championship Week is too good to pass up.
Cutler has been right around 17 points consistently since Week 4, and that's with a good amount of turnovers sprinkled in. If he continues to play within himself and cut down on the turnovers, Cutler becomes a very serviceable QB the rest of the way. He should not be this widely available.
