BALLER MOVE: Add 14+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 17% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Last week Seattle Seahawks star running back Marshawn Lynch sustained a hamstring injury and was not able to finish the game vs. the Bears, finishing with a paltry five attempts and 14 yards rushing. In his absence rookie RB Thomas Rawls stepped up and had a fantastic game. Rawls totaled 104 yards on 16 totes sporting a solid 6.5 yard/carry. After the game head coach Pete Carroll stated that Lynch "had a tough time getting loose" but downplayed it saying there is nothing to be "alarmed" about.
Today ESPN reporter Adam Schefter reported that Lynch is "50-50" to play Monday night vs the Lions. If Lynch does not play, Fred Jackson figures to handle receiving duties while Rawls handles most of the running plays. Since Rawls likely won't be involved in receiving duties his value will be limited in PPR leagues.
In the first two games of the season the Lions defense allowed 228 yards and 3 TDs to opposing RBs which makes Rawls very intriguing this week. Since we don't have clarity on Lynch's health, the recommendation is to pickup Rawls as a handfcuff to Lynch or if you are in a deeper league.
In the meantime, monitor this developing story with Lynch and have Rawls on speed dial on your bench. It is possible that Lynch could be out for a short period due to this soft tissue injury. If that happens, Rawls would have significant value in all leagues in Seattle's run first offense.
