Tigers Eyeing Mike Leake At The Deadline

The Detroit Tigers have Cincinnati Reds pitcher Mike Leake on their radar as the MLB Trade Deadline approaches soon.

The Tigers are three games below .500 and 4 1/2 games out of the second American League Wild Card spot. They need help in the pitching area next to David Price, which Leake would help with. If Detroit goes through with a possible trade with the Reds, it will show that the team will be a buyer rather than a seller at the deadline.

Leake, 27, has played all six of his MLB seasons with the Reds. He’s 8-5 with a 3.78 ERA with one complete game. He’s had a solid stretch of pitching with four straight quality starts and two runs over his last 22 innings. He’s a free agent at the end of the season, which could make it easier for the Tigers to land the starting pitcher.

The Reds are breaking down their team. It’s likely that Leake will no longer be in a Cincinnati uniform after July 31.
