BALLER MOVE: Target ~230
CURRENT ADP: 261
ANALYSIS: Baltimore Orioles infielder Tim Beckham may have just needed a change of scenery, being traded from the Rays to the Orioles. He went from being seen as a bust of a high Draft pick to all but sealing J.J. Hardy's fate as an ex-Oriole in the span of months. Beckham nearly doubled his career highs in doubles and RBI in 2017, hitting .278 with 22 home runs and 62 RBI for the Orioles.
The question is, will he continue to carry that forward or will he lapse into his older ways? We are cautiously optimistic, but even with his surge in production, he's still seen as a middle-of-the-pack shortstop, well behind people like Francisco Lindor and Carlos Correa.
With the addition of 3B eligibility to his SS eligibility (Manny Machado will play short), Beckham will see a boost in value headed into 2018. If he is able to hit like he did in the second half of 2017 (.805 OPS), he would be a steal at the end of drafts.
