BALLER MOVE: Add in Deep Leagues
ANALYSIS: Tim Lincecum is not the great ace pitcher he was a few seasons ago so right out of the gates I caution you to not buy too much into the no-hitter he threw this week. It was against the Padres, who are pitiful, and before the no-hitter he had allowed 17 earned runs in his previous 22 IP, which is pretty gross. All that being said he is a guy you can use as a matchup play and this week he gets STL home and SD again in Petco - both solid matchups. This season he is better than last season - he is pitching to an ERA in the mid fours, punching out nearly a batter an inning, and has two anemic offenses in his divisions that should help his numbers. With the good you get the bad, and the bad is he walks more batters than anyone would like, gives up homeruns, and doesn't seem to have the toughness to gut out starts when he gets off to a bad inning or two. The verdict is to pick him up if you are able to take a flier on him and hope he builds on the no-hitter, but do not be afraid to cut ties instantly if he throws up a bad start. Matchup plays will be the best bet here.
