ANALYSIS: After putting on the ultimate stinker one week ago (0.0-FP goose egg), Tim Patrick rewarded the fantasy GMs that held onto him with his second-best game of the season through W13. Patrick has not been a ground-floor fantasy asset all year long, and that game against New Orleans (two targets, no receptions) was more of a fluke than anything else. Hopefully, fantasy GMs are now aware of that and put Patrick back in fantasy rosters at a higher rate than his current 1-in-5-leagues rate.
While Tim Patrick had a relatively low start to the 2020 season, putting up back-to-back games below 7 FP, he quickly fixed his woes by racking up 99 FP from W3 to W11 averaging 14.1 FP in that seven-game span. He had a bad game (7.4) and an explosive one (23.3), but he was mostly a WR2/3 performer weekly, good for needy GMs in deeper formats.
Patrick's 4-for-4, 44-yard, 2-touchdown game this past Sunday showed his ceiling for the second time this season, as he also reached 20+ fantasy points back in W4. It's not that Patrick will catch a couple of scoring passes every week, but he doesn't really need it to be that WR3 weekly play in fantasy leagues. He's caught 64.5% of his passes this season and both his role (75+ percent of snaps played) and usage (5.6 targets per game) are high for a low-end rosterable receiver.
If only for a week, Patrick should be on most deep-league fantasy GMs' radars. The Broncos face Carolina in W14 and the Panthers rank a below-average 17th-best against fantasy WRs, making Patrick a nice play at the WR3/FLEX slots. Things go a little bit harder after that, though, with two top-10 defenses ROS and Las Vegas (20th) in W17. If you're part of a much deeper league (14+ teams) then Patrick should still be a good FLEX play for the remainder of the year.
