NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 2/15/22
We are officially back to the “normal” schedule after a small slate on both Sunday and Monday. We will also have a few value spots to exploit, granting us some flexibility in roster construction. I will do my best to guide you through this exciting slate starting at 7 p.m. EST with a few teams in prime matchups.
We will have one team on a back-to-back: Edmonton. The Blue Jackets and their league's third-worst goals against (3.57) will travel to the Flames, while the Avalanche will hope to replicate their weekend performance using the league’s second-best goals for (4.02) when they play host to the Stars.
DISCLOSURE: The slate may not be the same at puck drop as it is during the writeup due to COVID-19. Make sure to monitor the news feed and play at your own risk.
NHL DFS Goalies
Igor Shesterkin- DK $7.8K || FD $8.4K
Opponent - Boston Bruins
There are a handful of great goalie matchups on the slate for this Tuesday, however, Shesterkin stands out among them for a few reasons. Not only is the netminder playing a large contribution in the resurgence of the New York Rangers, but he is also getting a rather soft matchup with multiple players missing from the Boston Bruins. Before the break with the Rangers, Shesterkin had won four of his five previous matchups. In that time frame, he posted a save percentage under 0.900 once and the Rangers still won the game 7-3. For less salary and potentially less ownership, Shesterkin could be a difference-maker.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Jarry(DK $8.5K || FD $8.3K), Markstrom(DK $8.4K || FD $8.2K), Husso(DK $8.1K || FD $7.9K), Saros(DK $7.8K || FD $8.1K), Anderson(DK $7.4K || FD $6.8K)
NHL DFS Centers
Mikael Backlund-DK $3.4K || FD $4.8K
Opponent - Columbus Blue Jackets
The veteran second-line pivot is on fire and he is about to get a significant upgrade on his line with newly acquired Tyler Toffoli. In Backlund's last five games he has a 1-5-6 line and 21.0 shots. The Blue Jackets defense is nothing to write home about and Backlund will look to kick things off with his new linemate quickly.
Mika Zibanejad- DK $6.7K || FD $7.8K
Opponent - Boston Bruins
Zibanejad is on a heater currently and he has no better way to return to play than the injury-riddled Bruins. The B's have lost their returning netminder Tuukka Rask to retirement, Brad Marchand to suspension and Patrice Bergeron to injury. Boston is not only missing a few names, but their defense is subpar at best. In Zibanejad's five games prior to their small "pause", he had a 3-4-7 line with 15.0 shots.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Crosby(DK $7.4K || FD $9.1K), Point(DK $7.2K || FD $8.3K), Lindholm(DK $6.5K || FD $7.6K), Malkin(DK $6.1K || FD $7.5K), Granlund(DK $4.3K || FD $5.3K), Thomas(DK $3.9K || FD $5K)
NHL DFS Wings
Filip Forsberg- DK $5.8K || FD $8.7K
Opponent - Vegas Golden Knights
It is astonishing that the winger is under $6K in salary on DraftKings. The ex-Capital continues to bear the weight of Nashville's offense and now he gets to play against a Washington team who is struggling for consistency in the net. In Forsberg's past five appearances he has a 4-4-8 line and 18.0 shots. With many options at wing on the slate, Forsberg has a great chance of garnering little ownership as well.
Nikita Kucherov- DK $8.5K || FD $9.7K
Opponent - New Jersey Devils
Kucherov continues to carry the Lightning on his back offensively. The winger instantly turned the team around when he returned from injury at the beginning of the year. Since then in his 10 appearances, he has a 5-9-14 line and 43.0 shots. New Jersey remains a lackluster team at best and Kucherov will have every chance to show why he is the third-highest prices winger on DraftKings.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Gaudreau(DK $7.5K || FD $8.9K), Rust(DK $7K || FD $9.5K), Tarasenko(DK $6.5K || FD $8.5K), Tkachuk(DK $6K || FD $8.1K), Panarin(DK $5.2K || FD $8K), Kyrou(DK $4.9K || FD $7.6K), Mercer(DK $2.6K || FD $4.9K))
NHL DFS Defensemen
Adam Fox- DK $5.7K || FD $7K
Opponent - Boston Bruins
This is a no-brainer in all formats. Fox easily outproduces any salary in the $5K range on DraftKings and he produces the same offense and defense as most of the defenders that have a higher salary than him. Aforementioned, Boston is not looking great as of late and Fox is one of the key cogs in the Rangers lineup. He will have many chances to hit value and more. In his five appearances prior to the Rangers' break, he had a 2-6-8 line with 8.0 shots.
Noah Hanifin- DK $3.8K || FD $5.4K
Opponent - Calgary Flames
Hanifin has yet to fill the shoes of his expected potential when the Hurricanes originally drafted him fifth overall in his draft year. However, he is starting to show more glimpses of offensive prowess as of late with a 1-5-6 line and 10.0 shots in his last five games. He also has 9.0 blocked shots in that time frame. Columbus will provide every chance for Hanifin to hit value and exceed and now he gets added talent to his power-play with newcomer Tyler Toffoli.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Josi(DK $7.5K || FD $7.4K), Dobson(DK $5.5K || FD $6K), Doughty(DK $5.4K || FD $6.7K), Severson(DK $4.2K || FD $6.4.7K), Tanev(DK $3.3K || FD $4.9K), Brannstrom(DK $2.5K || FD $3.8K)
