NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 3/1/22
After a tiny three-game slate last night, we kickstart the week with a solid nine-game slate. Value spots will be far and few between. I will do my best to guide you through this massive slate, starting at 7 p.m. EST with a few teams in prime matchups.
We have a few teams playing on the second half of back-to-backs: New Jersey and Boston. The Canadiens and their league-worst 3.7 GA will host the Jets, while the Avalanche will host play host with their league-best 4.02 GF when the Islanders come into town.
DISCLOSURE: The slate may not be the same at puck drop as it is during the writeup due to COVID-19. Make sure to monitor the news feed and play at your own risk.
NHL DFS Goalies
Darcy Kuemper - DK $8.4K || FD $8.5K
Opponent - New York Islanders
Kuemper has picked up his form quite a bit as of recent with four wins in his last five appearances and he posted below a 0.900 save percentage once. He also has two shutouts against the Stars and the Golden Knights in that span. The Islanders have lost all offensive touch to their game and this should be a moderately (knock on wood) easy game for Kumper to notch another shutout.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Vasilevskiy(DK $8.5K || FD $8.6K), Hellebuyck(DK $8.3K || FD $8.1K), Andersen(DK $8.2K || FD $8.2K), Ullmark(DK $8K || FD $8K), Berube(DK $7.8K || FD $7.5K), ReimerDK $7.1K || FD $7.2K)
NHL DFS Centers
Pierre-Luc Dubois - DK $5.1K || FD $6.1K
Opponent - Montreal Canadiens
PLD is on fire and he is finding form again. In his last two games, he has 4.0 assists and 13.0 shots. Montreal is gaining form, but they are still suffering from poor defense and goaltending. In their last five matches, they have conceded 9.0 goals. Dubois could be one of the best value plays on the slate.
Jack Hughes - DK $6.1K || FD $8.3K
Opponent - Columbus Blue Jackets
Hughes and linemate Dawson Mercer are tearing it up ever since the two joined a line together. Columbus is no stronghold either and they have the league's second-worst GA (3.59). In the last five games, Hughes has a 4-7-11 line and 18.0 shots.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): McDavid(DK $8.9K || FD $10K), Aho(DK $8.4K || FD $8.9K), Point(DK $6.9K || FD $7.9K), Jenner(DK $6.8K || FD $6.8K), Scheifele(DK $6K || FD $6.9K), Cirelli(DK $3.7K || FD $5.8K)
NHL DFS Wings
Evgeny Svechnikov - DK $2.5K || FD $3.6K
Opponent - Montreal Canadiens
The younger Svech is not disappointing since his most recent callup. In two games after rejoining PLD and Kyle Connor, Svechnikov has a 2-1-3 line and 5.0 shots. Aforementioned, the Canadiens don't have the best defense and Svechnikov will provide the salary savings to spend elsewhere while having an excellent ceiling.
Andrei Svechnikov - DK $7.6K || FD $8K
Opponent - Detroit Red Wings
Welcome in the older of the two Svechnkinov brothers and the Michigan Man himself. Andrei is the more expensive of wingers from the top-line of the Hurricanes and for good reason. He provides a solid floor, while still offering a very good ceiling. Detroit just got dumped on by the Maple Leafs and now the Hurricanes are up in the order. Svech has a stellar 2-4-6 line and 19.0 shots over his last five appearances.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Kucherov(DK $8.3K || FD $9.9K), Connor(DK $7.3K || FD $9.3K), Laine(DK $7K || FD $7.2K), RantanenDK $6.6K || FD $9.1K), Hyman(DK $5.2K || FD $6.3K), Necas(DK $4K || FD $5K), Dadanov(DK $3.5K || FD $4.6K)
NHL DFS Defensemen
Dougie Hamilton - DK $5.8K || FD $7K
Opponent - Columbus Blue Jackets
As long as Hamilton is under $6K in salary on DraftKings he is an instant lock at this point. It is never safe to make someone a lock, however, Dougie is the closest thing you will get on this slate in terms of a solid floor and great upside. The defenseman has posted double-digit fantasy points on DraftKings in his two games since his return. He also has 1.0 assists, 8.0 shots, and 3.0 blocked shots. The Blue Jackets are coming off a rough loss to the Penguins at the weekend and Hamilton and cast will assure it happens once again.
Joshua Morrissey - DK $4.6K || FD $5.2K
Opponent - Montreal Canadiens
Morrissey is providing a solid effort once again. The defenseman is back on the top power-play unit and he has produced a trustworthy floor over the last handful of matches. In that span, he has 2.0 assists, 10.0 shots and 11.0 blocked shots. He will get another chance to shine when the Canadiens come into town.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Slavin(DK $5.9K || FD $5.8K), Dobson(DK $5.5K || FD $6.2K), Pesce(DK $4.3K || FD $5.3K), Ristolainen(DK $3.8K || FD $4.4K), Chiarot(DK $3.6K || FD $4.3K), Brannstrom(DK $2.6K || FD $4K)
