NHL DFS Analysis and Picks for 3/27/22
Yesterday could not have been more opposite for the majority of the games. As the season winds down, expectations will change and predictions will get harder. However, I will do my best in guiding you through this seven-game slate on DraftKings and four-game slate on FanDuel starting at 5:00 p.m. EST and 7:00 p.m. EST respectively.
There are a few teams playing on the second-half of a back-to-back: Minnesota, Florida, Toronto, Montreal and New Jersey. The Canadiens and their league-worst 3.7 GA will travel to the Devils, while the Panthers and their league-best 4.01 GF will hope to display a better offense when they travel to Toronto.

NHL DFS Goalies
Tristan Jarry- DK $8.5K || FD $K
Opponent - Detroit Red Wings
This is the prime bounce-back spot in front of the home crowd in the Burgh. Jarry and the Penguins were trounced 5-1 at the Big Apple and they will be returning home in hopes the crowd will energize them back to a win. Even with the poor performance, Jarry still has a 0.922 save percentage and Detroit is still finding chemistry with their new lines.
Others To Consider (Cash/GPP): Shesterkin(DK $8.4K || FD $K), Hellebuyck(DK $8.3K || FD $7.7K, Saros(DK $8.2K || FD $7.7K), Knight(DK $7.6K || FD $8.8K)
NHL DFS Centers
Nico Hischier-DK $4.4K || FD $6.9K
Opponent - Montreal Canadiens
Hischier seems to finally be growing into his own skates. The pivot has two goals, six assists and 5 shots in his last five games. He is not producing crazy numbers and he is mostly benefiting from his linemates. However, his team has a prime matchup against the worst defense in the league. The second-line pivot has the potential to make or break the slate.
Kevin Hayes- DK $3.8K || FD $5.1K
Opponent - Nashville Predators
Hayes is a part of the Philly resurgence. The center is carrying the bulk of the offense and he is in a solid spot to produce against a weak Predators second-line. Granlund is known for his lack of physical presence and it will give a massive advantage to Hayes. All Hayes needs is a few shots to hit value and anything else is a bonus.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): MacKinnon(DK $9.2K || FD $9.9K), Crosby(DK $7.5K || FD $K), Bennett(DK $5.9K || FD $6.3K), Dubois(DK $5.7K || FD $6.5K), Suzuki(DK $5K || FD $6.6K)
NHL DFS Wings
Claude Giroux- DK $4.9K || FD $6.1K
Opponent - Toronto Maple Leafs
Giroux gets the spotlight once again after putting together a tremendous performance last night, assisting two goals and taking five shots. In Giroux’s two games since his arrival to Florida, he has four assists and nine shots. Playing alongside Barkov will surely have its perks, however, Giroux will be more of a complementary piece than the guy who gets assisted. Either way, the new Panther winger will continue to succeed on the top-line and he will get another chance to produce after the Maple Leafs lost last night 4-2 to the Montreal Canadiens.
Nikolaj Ehlers- DK $6.2K || FD $7.5K
Opponent - Arizona Coyotes
Not the typical cup of tea when someone refers to value, but the entire second-line of Winnipeg is expensive and Ehlers is the best play when considering production too. Add in that he is going against a bottom-tier defense and this is a recipe made for success. In Ehler’s last five appearances, he has four goals, one assist and 20.0 shots.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Forsberg(DK $7.5K || FD $8.3K), Rantanen(DK $7.1K || FD $8.7K), Rust(DK $6K || FD $K), Panarin(DK $5.9K || FD $K), Bratt(DK $5.2K || FD $7.6K), Caufield(DK $4.1K || FD $6K)
NHL DFS Defensemen
Roman Josi- DK $9K || FD $7.3K
Opponent - Philadelphia Flyers
There is not much else to say, is there? Josi is a pure force on the ice this season and he is shattering his career-highs. The defender has taken matters in to his own hands in terms of the Predators’ offense with one goal, nine assists and 24 shots over his last five games. He also has 11 blocked shots in that time frame too. The Flyers are looking improved since their longtime captain left, but will they have enough to stop the dominant defenseman?
Damon Severson- DK $4.2K || FD $5.1K
Opponent - Montreal Canadiens
What would you rather have? A “top-tier” defenseman who will garner a ton of ownership and plays on the top power-play in a good matchup, or an “average” defenseman who is producing better and does not have as high of a salary and plays on the same power-play. I am going to side with the lesser salaried player here. Severson has shown he can carry the power-play before and he is currently outproducing teammate Dougie Hamilton who is $1K in salary more. This will be a fast-paced matchup with both teams playing in the second-half of back-to-backs. Severson has two goals, one assist, 13 shots and three blocked shots in his last five appearances.
Others To Consider (CASH/GPP): Fox(DK $6.2K || FD $K), Morrissey(DK $4.7K || FD $5.5K), Gostisbehere(DK $4.6K || FD $5.6K), Giordano(DK $4.3K || FD $5.2K), Ristolainen(DK $3.8K || FD $4.4K)
