BALLER MOVE: 12+ Team Leagues
OWNED IN: 7% of leagues
ANALYSIS: With a 680 ADP entering the 2019 season, veteran third baseman Todd Frazier was a forgotten man in the fantasy world. And if he wasn't forgotten enough already, an oblique injury cost him most of spring training as well as most of April. Upon returning, Frazier's initial production certainly didn't change anyone's minds - as he slashed .252/.314/.414 over the 34 games he played in April and May - with only four home runs, 13 RBI, and 13 Runs scored. Forgettable.
But as spring has turned to summer, the ToddFather has heated up as well; and in 32 games since June 1st, Frazier has virtually doubled his production from the previous 34, hitting eight home runs with 25 RBI while slashing .269/.378/.509. His advanced statistics have shown jumps as well, with a .377 wOBA and 139 wRC+ over the same period.
Part of these improvements might be chalked up to Frazier having a more patient approach at the plate. Since the beginning of June, Frazier's 6.4% SwStr% is down four points from his first 34 games, with his swings on balls outside the zone dropping by seven points as well. His contact-rate is also up seven points, with contact on swings inside and outside the zone both increasing by near-equal amounts.
While not the flashiest pickup, the 33-year old Frazier is showing that he still has something in the tank, and has now become relevant in 12-team leagues - even while playing on the dysfunctional Mets.
