Going into the off-season, Jedd Gyorko's fantasy relevance was like his status as the Padres' starting second baseman: on thin ice. That ice gave way when he was acquired during the off-season by the Cardinals to be their new utility infielder. Even after rebounding slightly from a dreadful 2014 that saw Gyorko's batting average and power plummet, he was still left searching for the future All-Star form he displayed as a rookie.
On paper, it appears that there won't be many chances for Gyorko to display any improvement as St. Louis is fully-stocked at all positions. If he were to see significant playing time though, Gyorko's power alone would make him an enticing pickup. Avoid for now, but a name to keep in mind during the season.
