Travis d’Arnaud is now dealing with a bone bruise in his wrist, which will delay his return to the New York Mets, according to ESPN New York.
The Mets catcher has been on the DL since April 20 because of a fractured right pinkie finger. D’Arnaud was supposed to return from the DL next week. This new injury could easily hinder that return and delay it by some time.
He went 0-for-3 with a walk and an RBI groundout during the second game of his rehab stint with Mets Single-A Advanced affiliate Port St. Lucie on Thursday. It hasn’t been reported if the injury took place during the rehab game or not.
The 26-year-old was off to a great start in 2015 before the injury. D’Arnaud had a .317 BA, .537 SLG, 2 HR and 10 RBI. He was on the verge of being one of the more important pieces in the Mets offense.
