ANALYSIS: The type of fantasy player we love, this Trendon Watford. Pre-ASB Watford: 33 games, 13 MPG, 4-3-1 line; Post-ASB Watford: 10 games, 31 MPG, 14-6-2 with a block. This thing, we dig. Trendon Watford has even gone to start the last four games he's appeared in and five of Portland's last six through Friday. Of course, the tanking is heavy in Oregon, but it's not that we're gonna complain about that, am I right?
Watford signed a two-way contract with the PDX in August after going undrafted, Portland converted that deal to a full-time one as recently as a month ago, and he's now starting games for the Blazers. Yessir! With a ton of players missing time for Portland as the franchise gears up for the draft/FA/2023 season, someone had to step up and play some minutes. Enter Watford. The forward is logging his good 33 MPG in March and he's been more than good.
The rook is hitting nearly 16 PPG in the past eight games, he's shooting a solid 45% from the field on a bulky 12 FGA, is good from the charity stripe while visiting it quite often (87%+ on 4+ FTA), and contributes all across the board (be it with rebounds, dimes, and most tastefully blocks). Nothing is a sure thing when it comes to Watford's long-term future, of course, but if you need a wing/big for the remainder of the season you can do much worse than rostering T-Wat--if you can still find him sitting in your WW, of course.
