Trevor Bauer had a dominant pitching performance on Friday, throwing eight innings of one-run ball during the Cleveland Indians victory over the Angels.
Bauer, 24, was as good as it gets for a spot-start against Albert Pujols, Mike Trout and company. The right-hander filled in for Danny Salazar, who was scratched from taking the ball on Friday because of an illness. Salazar’s start has been moved to Monday.
Bauer struck out seven, walked three and allowed five hits during the victory. He threw 101 pitches against an Angels team that is fighting to get back into the postseason.
It’s been an up and down season for the young starter. He owns a 10-10 record with a 4.31 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 145/61 K/BB ratio across 150 2/3 innings. It’s his fourth season in the majors but he has yet to find consistency. This start could be one that helps his career go in the right direction. Unfortunately for him, he will be on the mound against the Toronto Blue Jays during his next start.
