BALLER MOVE: Target ~75
CURRENT ADP: ~85
ANALYSIS: Chicago Bears tight end Trey Burton has received plenty of hype as the next Travis Kelce after former Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Matt Nagy became his head coach. His third preseason performance did nothing short of fuel the praise, as he caught four of his five targets for 45 yards and a touchdown while showing great rapport with quarterback Mitchell Trubisky. Add in the fact that tight end Adam Shaheen was carted off the field with an ankle injury and it looks quite possible that Burton could return significant value for fantasy owners.
The injury to Adam Shaheen takes away any worries fantasy owners might have had about the two sharing targets. Burton showed flashes of brilliance in Philadelphia last year and now has the chance to be the featured tight end on a Chicago team with some question marks at the wide receiver position. Burton is still unproven for the most part, but offers huge upside to anyone who selects him on draft day.
He is a stud just waiting to break onto the scene and he is being given that opportunity for the first time at the prime age of 26. Burton saw his playtime and usage fluctuate throughout his first three seasons on the Eagles’ active roster and is now ready for a full-time role in a Matt Nagy led offense that catapulted Travis Kelce to TE1 status. Burton is primed for a breakout in his first season as Chicago’s starting tight end.
