ANALYSIS: For most of 2018, Trey Mancini has failed to meet the standard that he sent in his successful rookie campaign last year when he produced a .826 OPS and 24 HR. While he never failed to hit less than three HR in a month all year, between May to July he produced mediocre OPS between .597 and .674, while his ISO hovered between .125 and .151 off of hard contact rates between 25.5% and 33.3%. That wasn't a whole lot to get excited about.

Though since the start of August, Mancini has turned things around in a big way. In 63 AB this month he has already knocked four dingers with a slash line of .286/.324/.508. His ISO this month is his best of the season at .222 off of 48.1% hard contact on batted balls and 9.6% soft contact. While he is typically a ground ball-heavy batter, he has finally lowered his grounder frequency to a more tolerable 44.2% this month and subsequently produced his lowest GB/FB ratio of 2018 at 1.35. Also, while his August walk rate of 5.9% is his lowest of the year, so is his August strikeout rate of 17.6% which is down 8.3% from July. Despite some of his offensive struggles this year, Trey Mancini has still managed to hit 17 HR thanks to an average exit velocity of 90.5 mph, which helps inside hitter-friendly Camden Yards. Now that he has managed to get back on track and has been producing well-rounded offense since the start of August, he looks like a great candidate for a strong finish to the season for Fantasy Baseball Managers.
