BALLER MOVE: Add in 2QB Leagues
ROSTERED: 21% of Leagues
ANALYSIS: After all of the talk, discussion, doubts, etc... it turned out that Miami's benching of Tua in W12 was indeed related to injury rather than a bad level of play. That's why the Dolphins trusted Tua as their starter once more this past Sunday, welcoming him back in a game that saw the rookie putting on his second-best performance of the season. Although not outstanding, Tua's 16.1 FP against Cincinnati should erase any doubt of who will be the starting quarterback in Miami ROS from fantasy GMs, and help them make the decision of adding him to their rosters if they're part of deeper-format leagues.
Tua was great against Arizona all the way back in Week 9 (21.4 FP), but after that, he dropped his production steadily to 14.7 FP in W10 and 7.3 in W11, ultimately leading Miami to his benching in favor of veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick. Of course, a thumb injury had to be factored into that benching equation, and now with Tua healthy again the Dolphins had no reason to keep Tua on the pine, thus making him their starter and giving him some much-needed reps.
And Tua did the most of them. Tagovailoa completed 26 of 39 passes for 296 yards, completing more passes and reaching the most passing yards he's ever thrown for in the NFL. He connected for a single touchdown, too, and avoided getting picked off any pass while not committing any fumble, either. The 16.1 FP translated to a QB15 finish pending MNF, which is to say a high-end QB2 performance.
And that's exactly what Tua should be ROS. Miami has a middle-of-the-pack schedule for fantasy quarterbacks. The Dolphins face the 14th, 4th, and 22nd-best defenses against the position; good, not great. Tua shouldn't be trusted as a 1QB-league starter unless you play in a 16- or 18-team league, but he's definitely a viable option in 2QB leagues in which at least 20 quarterbacks are in play each weekend.
