Troy Tulowitzki is expected to return to the Toronto Blue Jays lineup this weekend against the Tampa Rays in the final series of the regular season.
The Toronto shortstop hasn’t had any setbacks to a nagging shoulder issue that has kept him out of the lineup since Sept. 12, which means he’ll likely get some seasoning as the Jays prepare for the postseason. Tulowitzki will likely be playing through some pain as it’s hard to be near 100 percent after he suffered a small crack in his left scapula.
“It’s nice to get out there on the field and watch the ball,” Tulowitzki told The Star after his rehab session on Tuesday. “It’s a little different than hitting in the cage. I’m definitely pretty close. Maybe it’s the last game of the (Orioles) series. Maybe (Friday) when the Tampa series starts, but I definitely like my chances to play in games before the post-season starts.”
It’s great news for the Jays as they are one game away from clinching the AL East. The 31-year-old will add even more depth on the Jays high-powered offense with his .278 BA, 17 HR and 70 RBI.
