Tyler Clippard (RP, TOR) - Week 15 Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 34% of leagues

ANALYSIS: Toronto Blue Jays relief pitcher Tyler Clippard is the current beneficiary of Roberto Osuna's suspension and Ryan Tepera's injury, as he is now the closer for the Blue Jays. While his role with Toronto is tenuous to say the least, Clippard has a track record as a closer (even with the Blue Jays this season) and will continue to get opportunities north of the border.

For the season, Clippard is 4-2 with six saves, a 3.02 ERA, and 47 strikeouts in 41 2/3 innings. More importantly, since the beginning of June, Clippard has 18 strikeouts against just one walk in 14 2/3 innings, allowing just four earned runs. The biggest issue for those looking at Clippard is that he has allowed three home runs in the time period.

Saves are a precious asset in fantasy baseball (unless you are in a saves+holds league), so Clippard's ability to get saves in Toronto make him a must-add. There is a chance that Tepera gets the job back when he is healthy, and Osuna will be back within the month, but Clippard is the man to own today.
