Tyson Ross: A Solid Second-Tier Pitcher

Only 12 pitchers had more than Tyson Ross' 212 strikeouts last season. His 9.73 strikeouts per nine innings were eighth-best in the majors. His numbers were borderline ace material, but because he pitched for an underwhelming 74-88 San Diego Padres team, you might not have noticed. Don't make that mistake again in 2016.

The Padres aren't expected to make a major leap forward this season, so Ross' win-loss record could suffer again (he was 10-12 in 33 starts last season). Ross also led the majors in walks (84), but he was mostly able to pitch around the excess baserunners as he finished with respectable WHIP (1.31) and ERA (3.26) totals. Ross' increased slider usage helped bump his strikeout total over the 200 mark for the first time in his career. If he remains healthy and is able to cut down on the walks, Ross should return nice value for a mid-round selection.
