Analysis: Two weeks, two touchdowns...and one was a 75-yarder! That’s all I need to know, how about you?  McDonald is not exactly drowning in targets, but when Blaine Gabbert does look his way McDonald is definitely making the most of his opportunities.

McDonald is a beast to cover in the red zone due to his gargantuan size (6-4, 267), but his 75-yard touchdown showed that he has some underrated wheels to go along with that size.  He is a former second-round pick, so even though he had not shown much in his first three NFL seasons, maybe McDonald is finally reaching his potential.

McDonald has surpassed Garrett Celek as San Francisco’s top tight end in the early going, and with Gabbert and the 49ers offense playing much better than any football expert or fantasy prognosticator could have predicted, McDonald may not be a flash in the proverbial pan.
