Waiver Wire Pickups For Second Base (2B) and Shortstop (SS) For Week 21

Over the course of the season I’ll be giving you two players at second base and shortstop per week who I think can help your team. For Week 21 of the fantasy baseball season, these players are usually widely available in any format, and should turn nice profits in the weeks to come.

As always, feel free to reach out to me directly @Roto_Dubs with any questions about the middle infield or fantasy baseball in general.

Editor’s Note: to read about even more waiver wire options for second base and shortstop, be sure to check out our famous waiver wire pickups list which is a running list that is updated daily

Second Base (2B) Waiver Wire Pickups

Chris Coghlan (2B / OF, CHC) - Owned in 10.4% of Fleaflicker leagues

Chris Coghlan has put up a very respectable campaign in 2015, and he has been particularly hot of late. In his last 15 games, he’s hitting .297 with eight runs scored, 10 RBIs and three homers. He’s eligible at second base and in the outfield, meaning he gets his fair share of playing time one way or another. He’s particularly great against righties (.832 OPS on the season), and with the Cubs scheduled to face quite a few righties in the next week he could be a great streaming option.

Baller Move: Add in points leagues with 10+ teams/add in roto leagues with 10+ teams

Brock Holt (2B / SS / 3B / 1B / OF, BOS) - Owned in 40.3%% of Fleaflicker leagues

Holt has the advantage of multi-positional eligibility, and that includes the middle infield. The questionable All-Star has been picking things up in his last 15 games, hitting .346 with seven runs scored and 10 RBIs. He’s hitting .287 on the season. While he won’t give you much in the way of power or speed, he can be useful in any format given that you can plug him in at several positions. He’s a poor man’s Ben Zobrist and should be treated as such.

Baller Move: Add in points leagues with 12+ leagues/ add in roto leagues with 10+ teams

Shortstop (SS) Waiver Wire Pickups

Eugenio Suarez (SS, CIN) - Owned in 17.9% of Fleaflicker leagues

Suarez has been excellent since Zack Cozart was lost for the season. He has hit .305 with 20 runs scored and 32 RBIs in just 213 at-bats, proving he can even be an asset in the counting categories. He’s got eight homers on the season, including two in the last week, which is a pretty decent ratio for a shortstop. He’s got the inside track on that starting job, and I expect him to maintain at least a .280 average over the course of the season. He'll finish with 10+ homers and maybe 50 RBI. That could be a nice boost in the last leg of the fantasy regular season.

Baller Move: Add in points leagues with 12+ teams/add in roto leagues with 10+ teams

Francisco Lindor (SS, CLE) - Owned in 26.8% of Fleaflicker leagues

Lindor has been outstanding since he was called up for his second stint in the majors. Across his last 30 games, he’s hit .336 to bring his season average up to .284. He was one of the top prospects in the Cleveland system, and he’s starting to show us why. He’ll continue to hit near the top of the Cleveland lineup, and the offense has been hot of late. Getting on base in front of Michael Brantley and Carlos Santana should yield plenty of runs scored, and he rarely strikes out. I like him in deeper leagues in any format.

Baller Move: Add in points leagues with 10+ teams/add in roto leagues with 10+ teams
