ANALYSIS: Now that All-Day is all done with playing NFL football for the foreseeable future, it's time for the Minnesota Vikings to go to plan B and find a silver lining in this now dark, looming cloud. What's plan B you ask? Well, it surely isn't running out Matt Asiata like a starting NFL running back for the next 13 games of the 2014 season. He clearly isn't quick, explosive, or talented to be a full time back; although he will eventually play a nice, sure-handed, complimentary role as a backup.
The backup plan for the Vikings offense is to more steadily utilize the 96th overall pick in the 2014 NFL, Georgia Southern's own Jerick McKinnon. The diminutive, yet stout runner may remind some of a young MJD, and has all the tools to become a featured back in the NFL based on early reports out of Minnesota's coaching staff and beat reporters. Many expected an expanded role for one of our favorite sleepers McKinnon in Week 3, but he didn't deliver a performance worthy for even a FLEX play, and we saw Asiata once again get the bulk of the carries. Because of those facts, today is the day to snag this future lottery ticket off the waiver wire.
Week 4 expects to have a dramatic chance for big changes as Teddy Bridgewater takes over at QB, and the Vikes will be looking to get the ball into the hands of their most explosive players. Make sure you're not leaving Jerick McKinnon on your waiver wire heading into Week 4 because you'll want to catch this sleeper running back before it's too late (or too expensive in FAAB leagues).
