Whether it be the red hair or general jerk demeanor, Andy Dalton and Jay Cutler are often on the wrong end of many football-related jokes. It’s not that they lack talent—though they’re certainly familiar with boneheaded play, from time to time—it’s just that they’re easy targets for witty fantasy football fans. That said, come Sunday, Andy Dalton and Jay Cutler will both find themselves in very favorable fantasy situations.
Andy Dalton, for example, takes on the lowly Cleveland Browns this weekend. Believe it or not, the numbers show that the city of Cleveland actually hasn’t been all too kind to Dalton throughout the course of his career. Seriously, in four career trips to Cleveland, Dalton’s managed to throw four touchdown passes and five interceptions—not to mention a pair of untimely fumbles.
But, most recently Dalton did dominate the Browns in Week 9 at home, throwing for 234 total passing yards and three touchdowns—yup, not bad for a day’s work. But it gets even better for Dalton—not only has he scored at least 25 points in three of his last four games, but he’s brought in at least 22 fantasy points in four of his last five road games. Seeing as how Cleveland continues to struggle, it’s safe to say that Dalton will have another big game.
Coach John Fox has really helped the Chicago Bears turn a corner this season, but much of Chicago’s success can also be attributed to the stellar play of quarterback Jay Cutler. Though he’s struggled to provide much fantasy value for owners in recent weeks, Cutler will get back in the swing of things against the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday—honestly, who isn’t? Anyway, if San Francisco continues with its downward trend, owners can expect at least a 20-plus point performance from Cutler.
On average, San Francisco allows 20.1 opposing quarterback fantasy points each week, so it’s likely Cutler will follow suit and do something similar. Additionally, if Martellus Bennet is able to return to the starting lineup on Sunday as team doctors expect, Cutler will have yet another weapon to help him tear down the 49ers on the field. Needless to say, if you’re in need of some top-notch quarterback play this weekend, you might have yourself a dynamic duo of sleepers in Dalton and Cutler.
