In this space we will highlight some NFL quarterbacks that need to be considered on the Week 9 waiver wire for your fantasy football teams. Some of these quarterbacks may have a good matchup for Week 9, have been putting up relevant points recently, or are just underowned.
Fantasy Football Week 9 Waiver Wire - Quarterbacks (QB)
Terrelle Pryor – Oakland Raiders – 35% owned in Yahoo leagues
Baller Move: Add in All Leagues
Analysis: Pryor continues to fly under the radar as an above-average QB option. Despite his mediocre passing game, he’s able generate plus numbers with his elite running ability. His recent 93-yard run set a new record for longest ever by a QB, and his 106 yards total with a TD were his best of this season. The 88 passing yards with two INTs remain problematic, but you're not picking him up for his arm. He only threw the ball 19 times and is averaging just 26 attempts per game, which is toward the lower end of passing attempts around the league. In Week 9, Pryor will go against the 31st-ranked Eagles defense, and that is a great matchup. Invest with confidence this week and considering him to be an emerging no. 1 option.
Carson Palmer – Arizona Cardinals – 34% owned in Yahoo leagues
Baller Move: Add in All Leagues
Analysis: Palmer has solidified himself as a QB1 in the Cardinals pass-happy offense. Although the Cardinals have a BYE in Week 9, Palmer is an attractive player to consider for the remainder of the season. He has multiple weapons to exploit in Larry Fitzgerald and Andre Ellington, and he's a proven passer with an ability to stretch defenses. Ellington’s emergence forces opposing defenses to crowd the box and acknowledge the run, which in turn opens up opportunities for Palmer to throw deeper passes. He may never have developed into a star, but he is a reliable passer on a team with a nicely balanced offense.
Mike Glennon – Tampa Bay Bucs – 5% owned in Yahoo leagues
Baller Move: Stash in Deep Leagues
Analysis: Mike Glennon survived his short-week matchup against the Carolina Panthers fourth-ranked defense, and now he faces an equally tough Week 9 matchup against the Seahawks. The positive here is that the Bucs seem to be letting him air it out, calling for 51 passing attempts in Week 8, on which Glennon managed 275 yards with a TD and no INTs. Through four starts, he’s averaging 250 yards per game on 45 passing attempts. With a limited Doug Martin and little running game, the Bucs have few options outside of Glennon. Even with the team about to throw Greg Schiano out, the players still want to accumulate stats. Consider Glennon a decent sleeper who should get plenty of passing opportunities.
