BALLER MOVE: Stash away in 12+ team PPR leagues
OWNED IN: 1% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: According to ESPN.com, head coach Tom Coughlin has suggested that tight end Larry Donnell will likely miss the remainder of the season based on the "troubling results" of the MRI to Donnell's neck. Donnell's injury has forked over the starting role to Will Tye, a job now his to lose.
In Donnell's absence, Tye has been targeted 21 times and has caught 13 passes for 149 yards over a three game span. The stats aren't exactly mouthwatering but Tye's targets have continued to increase and he could very well find himself being an important component of a New York Giants' offense in a tight division race.
Eli Manning has had a successful run with tight ends in his ten-year stint in the NFL. Kevin Boss and Jake Ballard, past Giants tight ends and unlikely producers at the position, have never finished lower than 17th overall in standard fantasy scoring, according to NYTimes.com. Now throw Tye into PPR formatted leagues, and he will surely have a chance to make some noise, especially for teams in leagues deep enough to be pleased with production around ten fantasy points.
The Giants head into an unfavorable matchup against a stingy New York Jets defense who have relinquished the second fewest fantasy points to tight ends. Tye is a borderline TE2 this week, but should be stashed away and monitored alongside New York's matchups in the weeks leading to fantasy playoffs, especially for those stuck with an inconsistent tight end or owners of Donnell.
