Yangervis Solarte (2B/3B, SD) – Waiver Wire Pickups

BALLER MOVE: Add in 14+ Team Leagues

OWNED IN: 23% of FleaFlicker Leagues

ANALYSIS: Those who enjoy both DFS and season long fantasy know that the Padres will be a favorite team to stream against thanks to their terrible pitching staff. That has also led many to believe that their lineup is equally bad, which isn’t the case. While their lineup is far from the scariest in the league, there is some talent present and Solarte figures to bat third or fourth in the lineup throughout the season.

Despite an injury-shortened season last year, Solarte posted career-highs in home runs, RBI and batting average. He’s done his best to prove that performance was no fluke in the early going of this season as he has racked up two extra-base hits, three RBI and one run scored in the Padres’ first four games of the season against the Dodgers. Solarte won’t post a flashy season-long stat line, but is undervalued as a consistent and suddenly reliable corner infield option. Take advantage of the perception that Solarte isn’t a good fantasy add because he plays on a terrible team and add him aggressively in deeper leagues.
