The New York Yankees have placed their closer, Andrew Miller, on the 15-day DL with a strained left forearm.
The 30-year-old left-hander is second the A.L. with saves (17). Miller told the Yanks that he has been feeling the pain for some time now and an MRI revealed the slight strain in the flexor mass muscle in his forearm.
Yankees Manager Joe Girardi told Yahoo Sports that their closer will not throw for 10 days to two weeks.

"I think it was one of those things that was building," Miller told Yahoo. "It hasn't been recovering quite like I wanted it to, so it's frustrating more than anything for me."
Miller has a 1.03 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and 17 saves on the year in as many opportunities. It’s a blow to a bullpen that has been one of the best in MLB this year.
Dellin Betances will take over as closer in Miller's absence. There's no timetable for his return.
