ANALYSIS: Some players will hit a big slump out of nowhere and they may never recover again. Some players are just genuinely good baseball players, and there is no reason to panic and abandon ship if they go through a couple of normal down periods. I'm hinting at Yasmani Grandal (and kind of James Shields). The 2015 All-Star catcher started the year off well with a .903 OPS in April but proceeded to tailspin with back to back horrid months with a .464 OPS in May and a .639 OPS in June. At that point he had seven HR on the season. Grandal has taken 123 AB through July and August and he has been one of the hottest bats in baseball. He has hit 14 HR, has an XBH rate of 12.3%, a walk rate of 14.6%, and a BA of .309. With back to back month OPS of 1.130 and 1.091, a RHP/LHP OPS split of .829/.870 through the season, and the healthy mix of a keen eye for the strike zone and contact/power hitting, Yasmani Grandal is for sure the hottest hitting catcher in the MLB.
