ANALYSIS: It is hard to be such a good power hitter as quietly as Yasmany Tomas has been this year. Tomas has had just one mediocre month, which was May. He had a .656 OPS and a single HR in 79 AB. Other than that, he has been slugging like crazy. He isn't big on plate discipline or taking walks as shown by his .311 OBP, 5.5% walk rate, and 24% strikeout rate. He has been hitting for consecutively better average by month since May: going from .253, to .264, to .273, and has a .286 BA so far in August. Forgetting his mediocre May, Tomas hasn't had a slugging percentage under .477 for a month and currently has an OPS of 1.143 for August due to his improved average and eight HR in just 52 AB. Once again forgetting May, he hasn't hit less than four homers in a single month and averages six long balls per month. Considering he had one bad stretch three months ago, you should forget about May too and trust Yasmany Tomas's consistent power hitting.
