Chris Young will start Game 4 of the World Series for the Kansas City Royals against the New York Mets.
The veteran right-hander might be a surprise to get the ball in the World Series but he’s had a nice enough postseason to get one start. It will likely be his only start of the series although he could very well be used out of the bullpen after Game 4.
Young 4 2/3 innings in Game 4 of the ALCS of two-run ball against the Toronto Blue Jays. The 36-year-old also pitched in long relief in Game 1 of the Division Series. He’s shown he could be used in multiple ways. The goal is simply to allow minimal damage until the Royals’ bullpen takes over.
The 2015 season in general has been a nice one for Young. He went 11-6 with a 3.06 ERA with 18 starts and 16 bullpen appearances.
Mets rookie Steven Matz will oppose Young on the mound this Saturday.
