BALLER MOVE: Handcuff to Chris Ivory in deeper leagues
OWNED IN: 9% of Fleaflicker Leagues
ANALYSIS: Look, we all know what the most valuable fantasy asset is for any running back - opportunity. So news of starter Chris Ivory's hamstring flareup in Sunday's 30-23 loss to the New England Patriots immediately put backup Zac Stacy on the fantasy radar. But let's pump the brakes on that.
Stacy, in limited action this season, has rushed for just 75 yards on 27 carries (2.8 per carry). His breakout rookie season with the St. Louis Rams in 2013 (973 yards, 7 TDs) feels like an afterthought at this point. If Ivory were to miss any time, Stacy could potentially have RB2 or Flex value as the main ball carrier in an offense that ranks third in the NFL in rushing (136.5 yards per game). But Ivory himself told reporters after the Patriots that he'll be "ready to go for next week" against the Oakland Raiders, according to the New York Daily News.
If you own Ivory in a season-long league and have a bench spot available, adding Stacy as insurance isn't the worst idea. That being said, the Jets also have Bilal Powell and former 1,000-yard rusher Stevan Ridley (PUP list) on the roster. It's this simple - Ivory is New York's bell cow, and he'll remain so as long as he's healthy.
