Zack Cozart is likely heading toward a stint on the DL after he slipped and hurt his knee Wednesday, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer.
The Cincinnati Reds shortstop had to be helped off the field after suffering the injury in the first inning. The 29-year-old tried to beat out a groundball and had to stretch his right foot to beat out the throw. His foot slipped across the base, causing his ankle and knee to twist. The results of an MRI could finalize a DL stint by Thursday.

“It’s heartbreaking, is what it is, to see him carried off the field,” Reds Manager Bryan Price told the Enquirer.
In 52 games this season, Cozart has a .259 BA with 9 HR and 28 RBI.
He’ll join a cavalcade of injuries for this Cincy team. It is already missing catcher Devin Mesoraco and starter Homer Bailey. Mesoraco -- an All-Star last season -- needs hip surgery, and Bailey had reconstructive elbow surgery. Marlon Byrd is recovering from a broken wrist.
