Rangers Acquire Mitch Garver From Twins
3 years agoThe Texas Rangers acquired catcher Mitch Garver from the Minnesota Twins on Saturday in exchange for shortstop Isiah Kiner-Falefa and an unnamed prospect. Garver will be the team's new starting catcher in 2022, which those investing in Jonah Heim stock won't be too thrilled about. Garver broke out in 2019 with 31 home runs and 67 RBI in 359 plate appearances over 93 games, but he played in only 23 games in the shortened 2020 season and hit a putrid .167 with two long balls and five RBI. The 31-year-old backstop couldn't stay healthy in 2021 and hit .256/.358/.517 with 13 homers and 34 RBI in 68 games. RotoBaller currently has Garver ranked as the No. 11 fantasy catcher, but his ADP is surely to rise a bit with the move to a much more powerful lineup in Texas.
