LeBron James Drops 36 Points, Nears Scoring-List Climb
3 years agoLos Angeles Lakers power forward/center LeBron James continued his stretch of dominance during an overtime victory Friday over the Raptors, in which he stacked up 36 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists across 45 minutes. While the Lakers needed every bit of James' 15-for-26 shooting performance, the 37-year-old now sits just 20 points behind Karl Malone for second place on the NBA's all-time scoring list. Having scored fewer than 20 points just once over his last 34 contests, James is a likely candidate to make history Saturday when facing Washington, particularly when considering that he dropped 50 points against the same defense on March 11. Since a one-game absence earlier this month, James has shown no signs of slowing as he attempts to will L.A. back to the postseason.
