3 years agoPhiladelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid (back) has been ruled out for Monday's game vs. Miami due to a sore back. Embiid is getting the second night of a back-to-back off after shooting just 6-for-20 from the field against Toronto on Sunday. James Harden, Tyrese Maxey, and Tobias Harris can be expected to shoulder a larger offensive load, while DeAndre Jordan and Paul Millsap figure to be in line for added frontcourt minutes. The absence marks just the third for Embiid since Nov. 27, as he remains firmly entrenched in the MVP conversation, tied for the league lead in scoring at 29.8 PPG. His next chance to take the floor comes Wednesday against the Lakers.--Jesse Borek
