Bobby Witt Jr. Dropped To Seventh In Lineup
3 years agoKansas City Royals third baseman Bobby Witt Jr. has been dropped to seventh in the lineup on Thursday against Minnesota Twins right-hander Joe Ryan. Before Thursday, the shortstop prospect hadn't hit lower than third in KC's batting order, but Witt just hasn't gotten off to a great start in his rookie season. He's gone just 5-for-39 (.128) with no homers, three RBI, four runs scored and one stolen base in his first 10 games in the majors. Witt has struck out 13 times and walked only once, so infielder Nicky Lopez has been bumped up to the leadoff spot, with Whit Merrifield hitting in the two-hole on Thursday. Witt might still hit near the top of the order against lefties, but his fantasy managers will be hoping the move down the order will get him going.
